Basic Skin Care Tips You Should Follow During Winter

FYBC 2:6

Extreme weather temperatures, either hot or cold can do harm to your skin. However. Winter, in particular, can make your skin dry up and flake due to the dry wind and chilly conditions. Your regular skin regimen won’t help in such times. It’s true, during the winter months your skin needs a bit more pampering than usual in order to stay healthy and continue glowing. Here at a few winter tips for your complexion that stop dryness and dull looking skin in its tracks.

Cleanse

Regardless of the product you use, cleaning your face is a MUST! In fact, it’s a skincare step you should follow all year, no matter the season. In winter, you should limit the number of times you wash your face (2-3 times)! It is also helpful to alternatively cleanse your face with cold milk and a cotton ball, which prevents dryness.

Exfoliate

Exfoliating your skin with a quality scrub is help any season. But like cleansing, you want to limit the number of times your scrub your face during the winter. Scrubbing too much can cause abrasion and make your skin drier. A way to eliminate the chance of over-exfoliating your skin, consider using a mild exfoliating scrub. You can enhance your experience but making your own scrub with natural ingredients available at your home.

Try this DIY recipe:

  • 2 tbsp. mashed ripe banana
  • 2 tbsp. of a mashed apple
  • 1 tbsp. honey
  • 2 dollops of your Mild scrub.

Mix all the ingredients and gently scrub your face for 2 minutes in circular motions. Washing it off with warm water and pat dry with a soft towel.

Toning To Tighten

Always use a toner that is chemical free! The harsher the toner, the more likely it is to disturb the PH levels of your skin. The purpose of a toner is to remove the post-cleansing residual dirt from your skin. Not to mention, toning tightens your skin and better prepares your skin to absorb any moisturizer or night serum you apply later.

Moisturize

Moisturizing isn’t necessary for only those with dry or flaky skin, but all skin types. You should always use a natural moisturizer, ones that contain extra virgin olive oil or almond oil.

The Next Treatment To Try At FYBC

fybc.jpgThere are many myths surrounding microdermabrasion treatments. Bettering your complexion has never been so simple, and microdermabrasion is one of the best ways to achieve positive results. If you are considering this fantastic treatment but are unsure, we are debunking the most common myths about microdermabrasion.

  • Microdermabrasion is Painful

There should be no pain with any microdermabrasion treatment. In fact, most clients describe microdermabrasion as relaxing. A microdermabrasion treatment is done with the help of a hand piece, which is run over the surface of your skin. This produces a slight scratching sensation. This feeling is the removal of the superficial skin cells.

  • Microdermabrasion Only Works on Those with Light Skin Pigmentation

This amazing procedure is for everyone! Just because you do not have fair skin does not mean that microdermabrasion will not work on you!

  • DIY Home Kits produce the Same Results

Although at home kits tend to be the more affordable route, they are by no means the most effective. A quality microdermabrasion treatment requires a professional practitioner handling your skin. A professional will be able to administer the treatment properly, by ensuring your utmost comfort and avoiding any mishaps.

  • Facial Scrubs are Equivalent to Microdermabrasion

Although facial scrubs are wonderful for your skin, they do not achieve the same results as a microdermabrasion treatment. Facial scrubs remove dead skin cells whereas microdermabrasion not only gets rid superficial skin, it also reduces fine lines, age spots and blemishes! There is really nothing like the real deal! Facial scrubs and microdermabrasion are not one in the same.

  • Microdermabrasion Requires Rest Post- Treatment

This is completely false. A microdermabrasion treatment can be done over your lunch break or before any event. This is our favorite part about this procedure! Expect your skin to be pink for a few hours after the treatment but it is nothing severe.

Try microdermabrasion with us today! We are a professional and skilled staff ready to help you achieve the clear and glowing skin you have been hoping for. Book your appointment with us today.

3 Wintertime Hacks For Your Skin

fybc

The winter cold is brutal on your skin. If you are desperate to bring your skin back to life, Forever Young Body Clinic can help. Here are 3 common side effects of the weather and way to combat them

 Bloated Face

If you are experiencing abnormal puffiness in your face, it’s most likely because your body is retaining fluid. Fluid retention is the byproduct of lack of sleep and too much salt… aka the holiday season. The quick fix to any sort of puffiness is to consume green tea! A couple cups of green tea a day or dampened green tea bags to your under the eyes, will offer quick results. Not only will the caffeine tighten your skin, but you will receive wonderful antioxidants.

Dry and Flaky Skin

Flaky, dry skin feels virtually impossible to get rid of during the winter months. Fight the urge to scrub away any rough or dry patches of skin. Exfoliating your skin disrupts the protective moisture barrier of your skin’s surface. Rather than exfoliating, hydrate with creamier moisturizers that contain colloidal oatmeal or almond oil. Another way to prevent flaky skin is to limit the water temperature of your showers to lukewarm.

Chapped Lips

Applying your lip balm more than 10 times a day but your lips are still feeling dry? Too frequent application of your chap stick will make your lips drier. Try gently exfoliating your lips with a soft washcloth or sugar scrub to remove the dead skin. After exfoliating, apply a thick lip balm before heading to be. Remember; resist the urge to lick your lips! The pH of salvia is extremely acidic and will most certainly irate your skin.

Go from drab to fab with one skin care treatment. Rejuvenate and revitalize your dry winter skin with us this weekend. Book your appointment online today.

Dry skin prevention tips

honey

The weather in our beautiful state has taken a turn. The temperature has dropped and the dryness is setting in. Although we love the autumn season here at FYBC, there are some downsides to fall and winter in Colorado. Dry skin is common during this time of the year, but it does not have to be! There are steps you can take to combat flakey and withered skin. It may be a little more work, but by adding these steps into your daily routine you will see a major difference.

  1. Don’t Over Wash Your Face – Washing your face too many times in a day is going to dry your skin out extremely fast. Wash your face in the evening after a long day and use your moisturizer. In the morning, refresh your skin with a warm cloth but avoid scrubbing your face with cleanser.
  2. Use Oils in your Moisturizer – Give your moisturizer a little help by adding a few drops of pure argan oil. The oil will replenish your skin and keep your face looking supple and glowing all day long. Argan oil has intense lasting power and will keep your skin hydrated!
  1. Utilize Hydrating Masks – Once or twice a week give your skin a little love with a hydrating face mask. You can make your own using honey and plain yogurt. Leave your mask on for 15 minutes and then rinse it off. You will find that your face will look hydrated and happy!

Don’t let the chilly weather give your face a beating. Combat the Colorado dryness and look fabulous all season long.
