Basic Skin Care Tips You Should Follow During Winter

FYBC 2:6

Extreme weather temperatures, either hot or cold can do harm to your skin. However. Winter, in particular, can make your skin dry up and flake due to the dry wind and chilly conditions. Your regular skin regimen won’t help in such times. It’s true, during the winter months your skin needs a bit more pampering than usual in order to stay healthy and continue glowing. Here at a few winter tips for your complexion that stop dryness and dull looking skin in its tracks.

Cleanse

Regardless of the product you use, cleaning your face is a MUST! In fact, it’s a skincare step you should follow all year, no matter the season. In winter, you should limit the number of times you wash your face (2-3 times)! It is also helpful to alternatively cleanse your face with cold milk and a cotton ball, which prevents dryness.

Exfoliate

Exfoliating your skin with a quality scrub is help any season. But like cleansing, you want to limit the number of times your scrub your face during the winter. Scrubbing too much can cause abrasion and make your skin drier. A way to eliminate the chance of over-exfoliating your skin, consider using a mild exfoliating scrub. You can enhance your experience but making your own scrub with natural ingredients available at your home.

Try this DIY recipe:

  • 2 tbsp. mashed ripe banana
  • 2 tbsp. of a mashed apple
  • 1 tbsp. honey
  • 2 dollops of your Mild scrub.

Mix all the ingredients and gently scrub your face for 2 minutes in circular motions. Washing it off with warm water and pat dry with a soft towel.

Toning To Tighten

Always use a toner that is chemical free! The harsher the toner, the more likely it is to disturb the PH levels of your skin. The purpose of a toner is to remove the post-cleansing residual dirt from your skin. Not to mention, toning tightens your skin and better prepares your skin to absorb any moisturizer or night serum you apply later.

Moisturize

Moisturizing isn’t necessary for only those with dry or flaky skin, but all skin types. You should always use a natural moisturizer, ones that contain extra virgin olive oil or almond oil.

4 Ways Cold Weather Can Benefit Your Skin

FYBC 1:16.jpg

Often times when we think winter, we think cracked hands, dry skin, basically all the unsavory skin conditions that the cold inflicts on us. But, since there are many more months of cold weather ahead, we have looked into some of the perks of freezing temperatures. Here are 5 ways that the cold actually helps your skin!

1. Helps Keep Pores Clog-free.

The great news is that the cold weather helps reduce and keeps pores less visible and refined. Acting as a sort of tonic or astringent. the cold weather slows down the secretion of sebum which reduces acne and keeps the shine away.

2. It Can Improve your Sleep.

Getting a full night’s rest is necessary for skin health and wellness, from reducing under eye circles to keeping your skin glowing. High heat during the nighttime is proven to disturb sleep whereas the cold supports the body’s natural temperature drop during sleep. Research shows the colder the temperature in the room, the better sleep you will have.

3. It Can Reduce Puffiness

The cold promotes blood circulation in both the body and the face, which reduces inflammation and swelling!

4. It Can Help With Anti-Aging.
The cold enhances your complexion and rejuvenates your skin. It also slows down the aging process—think of cryotherapy spa treatments or splashing cold water on your face in the morning—and keeps skin tight and vibrant.

It’s True, A Spray Tan Can Lift Your Winter Blues

FYBC 11:28There is nothing worse than your pale, winter skin offsetting your favorite holiday dress, which is why it is important to work a spray tan (or two) into your beauty prep schedule. Although you may not have factored a spray tan into your holiday to-do list yet, add it to the list and check it twice. It all too common to tan frequently in the summer months and then stop by Thanksgiving. Why give up on the glow of a gorgeous tan when you don’t have to? Don’t get us wrong, there is nothing wrong with being pale and proud, in fact, we do not suggest being sprayed as often or as dark as you would during the summer, but we are believers in the positive effects of maintaining a tan in cold-weather. Not only can a spray tan help you feel prettier (and often times, skinnier), you don’t need to wear as much makeup when you are tan. Simply throw on some mascara and head out the door. Not to mention that you won’t feel the need to cover up! To some, a tan in the winter may not be the most natural looking, but it is a way to get yourself through these cold winter days. Book an appointment with our tanning professionals today.

The Next Treatment To Try At FYBC

fybc.jpgThere are many myths surrounding microdermabrasion treatments. Bettering your complexion has never been so simple, and microdermabrasion is one of the best ways to achieve positive results. If you are considering this fantastic treatment but are unsure, we are debunking the most common myths about microdermabrasion.

  • Microdermabrasion is Painful

There should be no pain with any microdermabrasion treatment. In fact, most clients describe microdermabrasion as relaxing. A microdermabrasion treatment is done with the help of a hand piece, which is run over the surface of your skin. This produces a slight scratching sensation. This feeling is the removal of the superficial skin cells.

  • Microdermabrasion Only Works on Those with Light Skin Pigmentation

This amazing procedure is for everyone! Just because you do not have fair skin does not mean that microdermabrasion will not work on you!

  • DIY Home Kits produce the Same Results

Although at home kits tend to be the more affordable route, they are by no means the most effective. A quality microdermabrasion treatment requires a professional practitioner handling your skin. A professional will be able to administer the treatment properly, by ensuring your utmost comfort and avoiding any mishaps.

  • Facial Scrubs are Equivalent to Microdermabrasion

Although facial scrubs are wonderful for your skin, they do not achieve the same results as a microdermabrasion treatment. Facial scrubs remove dead skin cells whereas microdermabrasion not only gets rid superficial skin, it also reduces fine lines, age spots and blemishes! There is really nothing like the real deal! Facial scrubs and microdermabrasion are not one in the same.

  • Microdermabrasion Requires Rest Post- Treatment

This is completely false. A microdermabrasion treatment can be done over your lunch break or before any event. This is our favorite part about this procedure! Expect your skin to be pink for a few hours after the treatment but it is nothing severe.

Try microdermabrasion with us today! We are a professional and skilled staff ready to help you achieve the clear and glowing skin you have been hoping for. Book your appointment with us today.

3 Wintertime Hacks For Your Skin

fybc

The winter cold is brutal on your skin. If you are desperate to bring your skin back to life, Forever Young Body Clinic can help. Here are 3 common side effects of the weather and way to combat them

 Bloated Face

If you are experiencing abnormal puffiness in your face, it’s most likely because your body is retaining fluid. Fluid retention is the byproduct of lack of sleep and too much salt… aka the holiday season. The quick fix to any sort of puffiness is to consume green tea! A couple cups of green tea a day or dampened green tea bags to your under the eyes, will offer quick results. Not only will the caffeine tighten your skin, but you will receive wonderful antioxidants.

Dry and Flaky Skin

Flaky, dry skin feels virtually impossible to get rid of during the winter months. Fight the urge to scrub away any rough or dry patches of skin. Exfoliating your skin disrupts the protective moisture barrier of your skin’s surface. Rather than exfoliating, hydrate with creamier moisturizers that contain colloidal oatmeal or almond oil. Another way to prevent flaky skin is to limit the water temperature of your showers to lukewarm.

Chapped Lips

Applying your lip balm more than 10 times a day but your lips are still feeling dry? Too frequent application of your chap stick will make your lips drier. Try gently exfoliating your lips with a soft washcloth or sugar scrub to remove the dead skin. After exfoliating, apply a thick lip balm before heading to be. Remember; resist the urge to lick your lips! The pH of salvia is extremely acidic and will most certainly irate your skin.

Go from drab to fab with one skin care treatment. Rejuvenate and revitalize your dry winter skin with us this weekend. Book your appointment online today.

How to banish winter skin

winter skin

If you are struggling when it comes to maintaining soft and supple skin during the winter…you are not alone. It can be very difficult to keep your skin looking healthy and glowing during the winter. Caring for your skin during the cold, dry months certainly takes a certain amount of dedication but it is well worth it. Here are just a few things you should be doing every single day to ensure your skin is being taken care of properly.

Exfoliate Less

Being gentle with your skin is really key when it comes to preserving it. That is why during the winter choosing gentle cleansers that are ultra moisturizing is essential. Exfoliants tend to be far too harsh.

Avoid Toner

Toner tends to strip the skin of its natural oils and this can be a problem during the winter. The skin needs all of the oils and nutrients it can get…long story short avoid toner!

Extra Moisture Before Bed

During the night time is when our skin does its repairing. If you give your face an extra dose of moisture right before bed, you will see the results in the morning.

Although prepping your skin for dry weather is not always easy, it is essential if you are looking to maintain your youthful glow! We can help with our professional services that we offer each and every day. Now is a great time to book your appointment online right now!
