Summertime Necessities!

FYBC 7:6Part of feeling and looking your best lies within the little details. We all have our go-to summer fragrance, nail color, and hairstyle, but what about the seasonal essentials you may have overlooked? Here are 4 beauty essentials to incorporate into your summertime routine.

Facial Care- Since sun exposure is tough to avoid during the summer months, a great facial mask will come in handy. For some, the sun can dry out the surface of the skin whereas, for others, skin can become oil. Regardless of the effect, the sun has on your skin, a facial can help skin equalize and return to its normal state. If you are looking for a more personal, custom skin care, enlist the help of a professional.

Hair Removal- Short shorts, bikinis and pool days mean you need a reliable way to maintain unwanted body hair! Although shaving and waxing at home are easy, it is certainly not the best approach. Finding the help of a professional means that you don’t have to deal with painful razor burn and embarrassing razor bumps. If you are new to waxing in a salon, you will be pleasantly surprised with how pain-free and quick the process is. Find a salon you can trust and spend fewer summer days hiding shaving/waxing mishaps.

SPF Moisturizer- One of the easiest ways to ensure you are always protected from the sun is to use a skin moisture that has SPF incorporated into it. This is a great way to minimize your exposure to damaging UV rays and hydrate your skin. Look for a moisturizer with an SPF level of at least 30.

Tinted SPF Lip Balm- The perfect lip balm is a dime a dozen! Although there are so many great ones out there, finding a scent, shade and consistency that you love can be hard. Our personal favorites include the Fresh Sugar Lip Treatment by Sephora, Jouer Lip Sheer in Santorini and Neutrogena Revitalizing Lip Balm in Healthy Blush.

Be prepared for whatever comes your way this summer! If you are looking for beauty assistance, contact us at Forever Young Body Clinic today or book an appointment with us today. We have experience and trained professionals ready to help you.

Easy Ways To Protect Your Skin in the Sun

FYBC 7:4.jpgIf you love being outside but hate the thought of exposing your skin to harmful UV rays, there are ways to combat potential sun damage. Since this summer is proving to be bright and hot one, take the proper precautions to ensure the health and longevity of your skin.

Cover Up– If you know you are going to be outside for an extended amount of time, a hat is a great way to ensure you are protected. It just so happens that the floppy, big hat look is in this summer! For maximum protection, invest in a hat that covers your head, face, and shoulders.

Sunglasses– In this case, the bigger the better. The ideal pair of sunglasses is large frames big enough to cover the whole area around your eyes with polarized lenses with some sort of UV filter. Keep in mind that you should avoid any pair of sunglasses with a reflective lense! Although they are super trendy this summer, they will bounce UV light onto your cheeks

Sunscreen– One of the easiest ways to ensure you are always protected from the sun is to use skin products (primer, moisture etc) that have SPF incorporated into them. This is a great way to minimize your exposure to damaging UV rays. Look for products with an SPF level of at least 30 and to apply it just a frequently as you would sunscreen.

Avoid Laying Out– There is nothing healthy about sunbathing. Aside from the occasional burn, over exposing your skin to direct sunlight has dangerous consequences. If you are unwilling to give up sunbathing, consider taking it slowly and allow your skin to build up its melanin. If being tan is that important to you, a spray tan can give you that sunkissed look without the damage.

The way you treat your skin right now will certainly dictate how youthful, healthy and fresh you look later on in life. Taking good care of your skin now is vital to remaining healthy and naturally beautiful. Do what is necessary to protect your skin from the sun and look beautiful doing it. Summer Skin Care Essentials

summer essentialsTaking care of your skin is essential, especially here in Colorado since the climate can be harsh. Those of you who stay on top of skin care…keep it up, just be sure you are not taking it too far! Sure, your intentions are good… but be sure you really know what you are doing! Here are three common mistakes to be weary of:

  1. Face Oil. If oils are a part of your skin care regimen remember that it should be applied at the end of your skin care routine. Oil does not allow anything to permeate the skin once it is on! So, in order for your other skincare products to work, save the oil for last.  There is a way for all your products to do their job, you just have to get precise with the application order.
  2. Over-cleansing. Yes, cleaning your face is important, but make sure you are not over cleansing. Over cleaning your face depletes your skin removes or stops your skin from producing essential oils and other nutrients. If you are stripping your skin to the point where your face is drying out, you are increasing your risk for breakouts. One good clean a day is enough.
  3. Assuming your foundation has the right amount of SPF. It is true that most foundations these days have a degree of SPF in their formulas however, it is not enough to protect your skin harmful sun rays! Remember that your foundation most likely contains SPF 15 or 20 in, whereas regular sunblock contains SPF 50! Do not just rely on our foundation, take the all the extra precautions.
