FYBC 7:27.jpg

If you are experiencing seasonal allergies, this post is for you! As summer begins, you may be experiencing swelling, itchy eyes and skin. Here are a few tips that can provide temporary relief and can remedy any allergy symptom you may be experiencing.

Chilled Goats Milk

You can fight just about any eye infections and irritation with chilled goats milk. Goat’s milk has a natural immune boosting effect that can provide relief as the season’s change. Apply cotton rounds soaked in chilled goats milk to your eyes before getting ready in the morning and before bed to curb allergy symptoms for the whole day.

Rosewater Rinse

With pure rosewater, rinse or place a couple of drops underneath your eyes throughout the day. Like the goat’s milk, you can also chill the rosewater for the same calming effect.

Organic Aloe Vera Chill

Just like the goat’s milk trick, apply chilled aloe-soaked, cotton round to your eyes. You can either individually extract aloe from the plant itself or purchase a bottle of pure organic aloe.  The effect is virtually the same. Organic aloe is a must! Not only is this process soothing but it is perfect for bringing down inflammation.

Theses home remedies really do work! However, if you are looking for hands-on treatment, book your appointment with us today. Our facials and skin treatments are sure to calm any seasonal irritation you may be experiencing. Calm, fresh skin is waiting for you. Call us today.

Foods That Brighten Your Complexion

FYBC 7:25.jpg

Consuming a well-balanced diet full of key nutrients is not only vital to your health but also to your skin. It is no secret that eating our fruits and vegetable are healthy and packed for of important ingredients, but a few stand out when it comes to brightening and clearing up the surface of your skin. By consuming these foods you may see a vast change in your complexion.

Carotenoids- Veggies that contain the chemical compound carotenoid, such as red peppers, carrots, and sweet potatoes, are proven to cause your skin to glow and appear more golden in color. Recent studies show that people who eat more foods rich in carotenoid have an overall healthier looking, less pale complexion.

Healthy Fats- Healthy fats such as olive oil and avocados are crucial to keeping your skin properly hydrated. The consumption of both carotenoid- rich foods and healthy fats increase the absorption of the compounds within these foods that help with complexion brightening. By eating more avocados you will consume more linoleic acid, which helps the skin hang on to water. The outcome? Plump and radiant skin!

Vitamin C & E- Kiwis, Lemons, Oranges, Mangoes are full of both Vitamin C and E, as well as antioxidants. These three properties naturally block the skin from damage and also rejuvenate it. Vitamin C which can be found in most citrus fruits is a key component to collagen synthesis. Loading up on vitamin C will fight the natural breakdown of collagen and protects you from wrinkles and other signs of aging.

Maintaining a well-balanced diet will certainly pay off down the road. If you are looking for more help with your complexion, contact us at FYBC! Take care of your skin and it will thank you later. Book an appointment with one of our skin care professionals today.

At Home Remedies For A Minor Sunburn

fybc 6:1:17There is nothing worse than a sunburn. Not only are they uncomfortable but they can cause damage to surface of your skin. Here at Forever Young Body Clinic, health is one of our primary cares, which is why we encourage sunless tanning as an alternative to laying out in the sun. That being said, sunburns happen! Here are a few at home remedies you can use to care for your sunburns this summer.

  • Take cold showers or baths frequently
  • With a cool washcloth, apply lotions like aloe vera or chamomile to the burned area. Hydrocortisone Cream may also help relieve both the pain and swelling often associated with a sunburn.
  • If your sunburn has reached its peeling phase, there is little you can do to stop it. Hydrate the affected areas of your skin with lotion or coconut oil multiple times a day to kick start the healing process.

It is important to ease back into the sun after a burn. Give your skin the chance to fully recover and heal before exposing it to direct sunlight. Looking tan is such a confidence booster, but there are ways to get color without compromising your skin. If you have never had a spray tan or are looking to try it, feel free to give us a call. Summer Skin Care Essentials

summer essentialsTaking care of your skin is essential, especially here in Colorado since the climate can be harsh. Those of you who stay on top of skin care…keep it up, just be sure you are not taking it too far! Sure, your intentions are good… but be sure you really know what you are doing! Here are three common mistakes to be weary of:

  1. Face Oil. If oils are a part of your skin care regimen remember that it should be applied at the end of your skin care routine. Oil does not allow anything to permeate the skin once it is on! So, in order for your other skincare products to work, save the oil for last.  There is a way for all your products to do their job, you just have to get precise with the application order.
  2. Over-cleansing. Yes, cleaning your face is important, but make sure you are not over cleansing. Over cleaning your face depletes your skin removes or stops your skin from producing essential oils and other nutrients. If you are stripping your skin to the point where your face is drying out, you are increasing your risk for breakouts. One good clean a day is enough.
  3. Assuming your foundation has the right amount of SPF. It is true that most foundations these days have a degree of SPF in their formulas however, it is not enough to protect your skin harmful sun rays! Remember that your foundation most likely contains SPF 15 or 20 in, whereas regular sunblock contains SPF 50! Do not just rely on our foundation, take the all the extra precautions.

However, what about the areas on your face that often go untouched by a facial. Whoever thought about exfoliating your lips? We always talk about how important it is to exfoliate your body, but what about your lips? This spring it is important to ensure that your lips are smooth and free from dead skin.
