Ways To Keep Your Skin In Check During the Holiday’s

FYBC 11:14

Champagne toasts, late nights with the family and your mom’s mashed potatoes! We can’t get enough of the holiday season! Although you (and your stomach) may be yearning for some holiday fun, your skin is not. Fight the post-Thanksgiving breakout by reading up on some tips to help your skin through this delicious and joyous holiday.

November and December are the busiest travel months of the year, as people are making their journeys home to the family. Whether you are flying, driving or taking the train home this year, keep in mind that traveling often causes your skin to lose its moisture. The mix of recycled air, the stress that comes with traveling and the lack of sleep can leave your skin looking dull and dry. The key is to stay hydrated with the help of a heavy moisturizer and by drinking water.

Food Consumption

Fatty and sugary foods almost always increase the chance of a breakout. If you are prone to acne, avoid greasy foods this holiday season and add foods that contain healthy oil such as nuts, salmon, and eggs. The healthy oil will keep your skin from breaking out and drying out.

The combination of increased stress and alcohol consumption can negatively affect your skin. That being said, don’t let your mom’s comment about your pumpkin recipe get under your skin. The clarity of our skin is often contingent on our emotional stability.

Lack of Sleep & Alcohol Intake

Getting enough sleep, especially while you are on vacation is imperative to keeping your skin looking fabulous. Without sleep, our skin cells have a harder time generating!

Let’s face it, alcohol is just apart of the holiday season. However, it would be a good idea to think twice before finishing off the second bottle of champagne. Alcohol dehydrates the body like none other so, alternate your cocktail with a little water here and there.

Prepare Your Skin For Halloween Make Up

fybc.jpgHalloween party after Halloween party, applying loads of make up to complete the perfect costume can take a toll on your skin. However, there is a way to make sure you can have your seasonal fun without breaking out and irritating your skin. Here are some great tips that can keep your skin healthy and looking fresh after the party ends.

Hydration Matters

Not only will hydrated skin allow for easier make up application but it will also help with any dry skin you may be experiencing this fall. The week leading up your Halloween event, your water bottle should be with you at all times. If you are sipping on water throughout the day, your skin will surely receive the benefits! With the help of a little H2O your skin will be hydrated and ready to handle whatever make up look you choose!

Exfoliate, Exfoliate, Exfoliate!

Another element crucial to the Halloween preparation process is exfoliating your skin. Before applying thick makeup to your skin, you want to get rid of any dead skin or debris on the surface of your face. If you have an exfoliant that works for you, great! If not, you can make a great exfoliant with sugar and lemon. Mix a tablespoon of sugar and an entire lemon (juice) and apply it to your face for 5 minutes. Scrub the mix off with warm water!
