It’s True, A Spray Tan Can Lift Your Winter Blues

FYBC 11:28There is nothing worse than your pale, winter skin offsetting your favorite holiday dress, which is why it is important to work a spray tan (or two) into your beauty prep schedule. Although you may not have factored a spray tan into your holiday to-do list yet, add it to the list and check it twice. It all too common to tan frequently in the summer months and then stop by Thanksgiving. Why give up on the glow of a gorgeous tan when you don’t have to? Don’t get us wrong, there is nothing wrong with being pale and proud, in fact, we do not suggest being sprayed as often or as dark as you would during the summer, but we are believers in the positive effects of maintaining a tan in cold-weather. Not only can a spray tan help you feel prettier (and often times, skinnier), you don’t need to wear as much makeup when you are tan. Simply throw on some mascara and head out the door. Not to mention that you won’t feel the need to cover up! To some, a tan in the winter may not be the most natural looking, but it is a way to get yourself through these cold winter days. Book an appointment with our tanning professionals today.

Certain Ingredients For Your Thanksgiving Meal Can Make Your Skin Shine

fybc 11:21

Although professional facials are our forte here at FYBC, we are never opposed to a little DIY skin care. In fact, we have put a list together of Thanksgiving Day foods staples that are good for your skin. Who would have thought that your favorite Turkey Day meal is also a facial?

Cranberry

Not only are cranberries high in collagen-building vitamin C, they contain ellagic acid, which helps prevents wrinkles by blocking the formation of an enzyme that breaks down elastic tissue. So, coat your face with it in between meals or eat it with bread. Whichever way you choose to take advantage of the power of these tart berries, you are winning.

Apple

An apple a day keeps the doctor and your dermatologist away. Apple extract is commonly found in anti-aging lotions. Why? Apple contains malic and mandelic acids which reduce skin discoloration and scarring.

Pumpkin

We have talked about the positive effects of pumpkin before but in case you missed it, here is the scoop on the pumpkin. Pumpkin is a rich source of vitamin A, C, and E and contains essential fatty acids that keep your skin protected from free radicals.

Cinnamon

Just about every Thanksgiving meal contains cinnamon. It’s a wonderful spice that not only tastes amazing but it can improve your skin. Cinnamon helps fight acne by boosting circulation!

Thanksgiving leftovers are your best friend this holiday season. Be sure to try out a few of these ingredients and share your results with us!

What Is Your Thanksgiving Day Glam Missing?

FYBC 11:16

Dressing up for the holidays is one of this best parts about this time of year. Whether you are attending the annual work holiday party or having a festive get together with friends, looking and feeling glamorous is so much fun. This holiday season, take your glam from 0 to 100 with the help of a few of our beauty services.

Eyelash Extensions

If you are new to lash extensions, there isn’t too much to know. Lash extensions are an effortless and maintenance free way to rock longer, fuller and bolder lashes. No more mascara reapplication or fall out to deal with. The lash application process typically takes an hour, so book your appointment before the holiday rush hits.

Glow

It’s the middle of November and most of our natural summer tans are long gone. However, our never orange, flawless spray tanning is available to everyone. Spray tanning is an amazing alternative to harmful sun tanning beds. Although a spray tan takes a bit longer than a trip to the tanning bed, sunless tanning won’t cause skin damage or wrinkles.

Teeth Whitening

What to stop the room with your pearly whites? Here at Forever Young, we are offering teeth whitening thanks to Smile Lab’s lasers. Smile Labs is a cosmetic teeth bleaching system that is fast and effective! Your smile will be noticeably whiter in just one treatment.

Put your best foot forward this holiday season with our help. Book an appointment with us today online or over the phone at (720) 722-3911

Ways To Keep Your Skin In Check During the Holiday’s

FYBC 11:14

Champagne toasts, late nights with the family and your mom’s mashed potatoes! We can’t get enough of the holiday season! Although you (and your stomach) may be yearning for some holiday fun, your skin is not. Fight the post-Thanksgiving breakout by reading up on some tips to help your skin through this delicious and joyous holiday.

Travel

November and December are the busiest travel months of the year, as people are making their journeys home to the family. Whether you are flying, driving or taking the train home this year, keep in mind that traveling often causes your skin to lose its moisture. The mix of recycled air, the stress that comes with traveling and the lack of sleep can leave your skin looking dull and dry. The key is to stay hydrated with the help of a heavy moisturizer and by drinking water.

Food Consumption

Fatty and sugary foods almost always increase the chance of a breakout. If you are prone to acne, avoid greasy foods this holiday season and add foods that contain healthy oil such as nuts, salmon, and eggs. The healthy oil will keep your skin from breaking out and drying out.

Stress

The combination of increased stress and alcohol consumption can negatively affect your skin. That being said, don’t let your mom’s comment about your pumpkin recipe get under your skin. The clarity of our skin is often contingent on our emotional stability.

Lack of Sleep & Alcohol Intake

Getting enough sleep, especially while you are on vacation is imperative to keeping your skin looking fabulous. Without sleep, our skin cells have a harder time generating!

Let’s face it, alcohol is just apart of the holiday season. However, it would be a good idea to think twice before finishing off the second bottle of champagne. Alcohol dehydrates the body like none other so, alternate your cocktail with a little water here and there.

The Do’s & Dont’s of Spray Tanning & Waxing

FYBC 11:6

Planning on scheduling a spray tan and a wax close together in the near future? Before you make your appointment with us, don’t forget a few of the important do’s and donts for tanning after waxing.

Tanning/Waxing Do’s

Tanning after waxing your legs or another part of your body– a wax before a spray tan is a great way to exfoliate your skin. Exfoliating before a spray tan allows the tanning solution to stick to your skin better! By booking a wax before your tan you can kill two birds with one stone, exfoliate your skin and get rid of unwanted hair all at once.

Tanning/Waxing Don’ts

Getting a spray tan on the same day as a waxing appointment is a big no-no. After a wax, your skin needs time to recover. 24 hours post-wax, your skin has had the time to recover from any irritation and bumps and is still exfoliated! This way you will get the even, perfectly bronzed tan you hoped for, minus the unwanted hair.

Even if you aren’t looking to wax and tan at the same time, exfoliating your skin before both a wax and a spray tan is a wonderful idea. Remove dead skin cells by scrubbing your body with a sponge or washcloth in the bath. Remember the tanning solution always sticks to the freshest, newest skin cells it can find.

For results, you will love, schedule your waxing appointment within a day of your tanning appointment to get the most out of your for the littlest amount of effort and stress. Book your appointment now.

Start November With A Skin Detox

FYBC 11:2Our skin could use a detox, especially after Halloween weekend. We most likely didn’t get enough sleep, possibly forgot to wash our faces before bed and definitely ate too much candy. All of the above can cause your skin to act out! To get your body and skin back on track, start this month with a little skin detox.

Start With The Facial

A professional grade facial is the best place to start, simply because it can clean your pores more thoroughly than your normal skin care regimen. Not to mention, they are relaxing! Here at FYBC, we offer an array of facials that will surely start your detox journey off right.

Use Steam To Clean Your Face

Steaming your face after cleansing allows the ingredients to better penetrate your pores and pull out more grime and dirt. If you don’t have a face steamer, a steamy shower works great too. If you are without a steam shower, boil a pot of water then transfer the water to a bowl. Place your face over the water then cover your head with a towel to lock in the steam. Stay covered for about 10 minutes.

Clay & Mud Masks

Formulas that contain clay and mud remove pollutants and impurities from the top layers of the skin. If you add a little water to your favorite clay or mud mask and keep the mask on until it is soft (not totally dry). TIP: The essentials oils in a mud mask will dry up if you keep it on until it cracks and dries.

Hydrate (with Only Water!)

If your skin is crying for help, one of the best things you can do is drink more water. The daily recommended intake of water is around 91 ounces, although few people actually get this much. Not to mention that coffee, alcohol and sugary drinks further dehydrate the body. Although we love our wine and coffee, while your skin is in distress consider switching your morning cup of coffee with green tea.

Our skin and our body best respond to balance. Fuel your body with all the things you enjoy in life, just introduce them in a moderate manner. Your body will respond well to small changes and thank you later. For more information on our facials, contact us online today.
